Event rides wave of optimism

Gary Curtis will get his sailboat back from the repair yard this week, three months after Hurricane Charley pounded the 32-foot O'Day to the tune of $10,000.

Insurance covered all but the $1,000 deductible. The boat is ready to go — either sailing or on sale.

So, the 50-year-old Fort Myers prosthetics specialist and his wife, Cathy, went to a St. Petersburg sailboat show earlier this week with one question on their mind: to buy or not to buy.
