TAMPA - A Valrico man turned himself in to police after media reports about a boater who jumped over a water skier and his passengers, causing minor head injuries to two children.

Donald Alexander Murray, 48, contacted Tampa police marine units and told them he was involved in the boating incident near Harbour Island on Saturday, Tampa police said Thursday.

Murray's boat came barreling through the Seddon Channel, possibly hitting a small wave when it flew up and over the rear corner of a second boat, said Tampa Sgt. Alan Draffin.

In the second boat were Thomas Martin, 36, and Nancy Rivera, 43, both of Valrico, who had gone boating in Seddon Channel, accompanied by Rivera's son, 14-year-old Joseph Rivera, her nephew Aaron Sauliner, 14, and niece Sara Sauliner, 10.
